Gwendolyn and Nathaniel Runde

Gwen, an Emporia native, received her Mortuary Science degree from Kansas City Kansas Community College in 2010. She is a licensed Embalmer, Funeral Director and Life Insurance Agent. After mortuary school, Gwen moved to Hutchinson where she worked for a family owned funeral home for 7 years and then one year in Moundridge for another family owned funeral home before purchasing Brown-Bennett-Alexander. Nate has a full time job outside of the funeral home but assists when available. They have one daughter, Hadley, who was born in October 2020. 


Susan Alexander

Susan received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Kansas in Kansas City, Kansas. She completed the Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner program at Fort Hays State University, Hays, Kansas. Susan is a Licensed Funeral Director in the state of Kansas. Susan completed a program sponsored by the American Academy of Bereavement and is a Grief Facilitator. She offers support groups for those suffering with not only loss by death, but also, loss of health, job, etc. "Sometimes people just need to talk and have someone to really listen to them." Susan completed the Certified Celebrants program offered through In-Sight Institute, conducted by Doug Manning and Glenda Stansbury. This is a program which trains lay people to perform "personalized services."


The Late Jack Alexander

Jack received his Funeral and Embalming degree from the San Francisco College of Mortuary Science, attended the University of Kansas, and received a Bachelor of Science in Business from the William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri. Jack worked as a Mortician at the University of Kansas Medical Center for three years. For eleven years, Jack served as manager of the former Fulton-Nickel Funeral Home in Kansas City, Kansas.
