ANTHONY “TONY” PIETROWSKI
Tony Pietrowski, age 46, of Cottonwood Falls, KS., died Friday, November 25, 2011, at Newman Regional Health in Emporia, KS. He has been cremated. A celebration of life memorial service will be held Wednesday, November 30, 2011, at 11:00 at Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home in Cottonwood Falls. Pastor Rick Smith will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date.
The son of Anthony and Sharon Kreiling Pietrowski, Anthony A. was born May 27, 1965, in Bristol, PA. He and Brenda Mahon were married February 20, 2004, in Cottonwood Falls, KS. He worked as a laborer at CT Systems in Cottonwood Falls.
He is survived by his mother, Sharon of Strong City; two daughters: Jean Marie Pietrowski and Jessica Lynn Pietrowski of Cottonwood Falls, KS.; five brothers: Tom Pietrowski, Gene Pietrowski, and Billy Pietroweski of PA., Jim Pietrowski of S.C.; and Charles Pietrowski of KY.; and one sister, Shari Fisher of PA. He was preceded in death by his father.
There will be no formal family visitation. Friends may call Tuesday, from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. and Wednesday, from 9:00 until service time at the funeral home. Casual dress, please. ROBERT W. FILLMORE
Robert W. Fillmore, age 71, of Strong City, KS., died November 23, 2011, at the Morris County Hospital, in Council Grove, KS. A celebration of life service will be held Tuesday, November 29, 2011, at 2:00 P.M., at the First Baptist Church in Cottonwood Falls, KS. Pastor David Hatch will officiate at the service. Interment will follow in Bazaar Cemetery at Bazaar, KS.
The son of Edward W. and Zelda Spain Fillmore, Robert Wayne was born February 26, 1940, in Cottonwood Falls, KS. He and Carol Jean Garr were married July 16, 1967, in Cottonwood Falls, KS.
He was a truck driver/rancher/farmer. He drove a truck for years,
worked at the Z Bar Ranch, managed Fox Creek Ranch for several years, and worked for Chase County Road & Bridge Department as a road grader. After his retirement in 2005, he drove a truck for Murphy Agri, and Palenski Ranch. He worked with rodeos most of his life and served as director for the Flint Hills Rodeo Association Board.
He is survived by his wife, Carol, of the home; son, Roy Wayne Fillmore, of Strong City, KS.; two daughters: Marilee Jean Brittain of Matfield Green, KS. and Lisa Marie Fillmore of Emporia, KS.; a brother, Bill Fillmore of Cottonwood Falls, KS.; six sisters: Peg Kent of Smackover, AR., Pat Donelson of Cottonwood Falls, KS., Betty Yoakem of Kennesaw, GA., Carol Sue Talley of Rockport, TX., Carla Gibb of Charlotte, NC., and Kay Kleinsorge of Buda, TX.; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers: Hop Fillmore and Gene Fillmore.
There will be no formal family visitation. The family requests casual attire for those attending the service. VICTOR L. BASTIN
Victor Bastin, 88, of Matfield Green, died Tuesday, November 22, 2011, at Medicalodge in Wichita, KS. A graveside service and interment will be held Friday, November 25, 2011, at the Matfield Green Cemetery in Matfield Green, KS.
The son of Roy L. and Victoria Mercer Bastin, Victor L., was born May 15, 1923, in Matfield Green, KS. He attended Matfield Green Schools and graduated from high school in the class of 1941.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Rhineland Battle/Campaign- Central Europe. He received the WWII Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon, and three Bronze Service Stars.
He and Katherine “Kate” Yeager were married July 27, 1968. She preceded him in death in 1973.
He worked at Boeing Aircraft for years and retired after 40 + years.
He raised and raced greyhounds. His first “greyhound truck” was a two-door Model A and the dogs rode in the back seat. He liked to hunt coyotes. He and his wife traveled across the United States until she was no longer able to travel. Together, they raised a big garden and enjoyed tending to it. He was kind, but gruff, had a good sense of humor, and liked Coca Cola. He loved to play cards and meet with friends at the Hitchin’ Post in Matfield.
He is survived by his brother, Robert M. Bastin of Wichita, KS. a sister, Jean Swanson of Pawhuska, OK, a step-son, David Jeffery of Wathena, KS., two nephews, and three nieces. He was preceded in death by two sisters: Doris Cox and Hope Foose.
