William “Bill” G. King, 75, died March 6, 2025, at his home in Madison. He was born August 8, 1949, in Emporia to James C. and Lois I. (Dunn) King. Bill graduated from Madison High School in 1967 and attended college in Oklahoma. He retired as a master plumber from Young’s Plumbing in Topeka. He was a member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Union and a past board member of the Ronald McDonald House Charity. Bill was an avid fisherman, hunter, and golfer. His family remembers all the fishing trips they would take and the memories they made. Bill enjoyed spending time with his family but his greatest joy were his 3 grandchildren.
On July 6, 1985, Bill married Terri Lynn Gumfory in Council Grove. They shared 39 years of marriage.
Bill is survived by: wife, Terri of the home; daughters, Jordan King and Payton King; grandsons, Jackson and Luke; granddaughter, Scout, all of Madison; step-brother, Doug Wodke (Penny) of Manhattan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James “Jimmy” King.
Cremation will take place.
Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2025, at First Christian Church, Madison, with Pastor Bob Robinson officiating. Family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2025, at the First Christian Church, Madison. Family request casual dress.
