WILMA HAMILTON Obituary

WILMA S. HAMILTON Wilma S. Hamilton, age 91, formerly of Augusta, KS., died Saturday, October 1, 2011, at the Morris County Hospital in Council Grove, KS. A celebration of life service will be held Wednesday, October 5, 2011, at 10:00 A.M., at the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home in Cottonwood Falls. The service will be conducted by Pastor Young-Gil Bahng. Interment will be at 2:00 P.M., at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Buxton, KS. The daughter of Paul and Rachel Irene Cheesman Stackley, Wilma was born on December 14, 1919, near Whitewater, KS. She graduated from Cedar Point High School and a business school. She was married to Oren Hamilton who preceded her in death in 2003. She worked for Cessna Airplane Company for over 40 years. She started as a secretary, worked as an Assistant Administrator, and served as a bookkeeper. She was active at the Senior Center in Augusta. She and Oren were members of the Kansas Race and Game Commission and raised several race horses. She enjoyed tole painting, quilting, embroidery, and sewing and taught many classes. She made quilts for many people. She was, also, a gardener, small-time farmer, and a lover of animals. She had various livestock and small animals. She, also, enjoyed camping and fishing. She attended many barn dances. She is survived by her brother, Richard Stackley of Cottonwood Falls, KS.; three sisters: Paula Fruci of Londonderry, NH.; Mary Rachel Van Buren of Clements, KS.,, and Marjorie Louise Scobee of Strong City, KS., and numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. There will be no family visitation. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday, 10:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. and Wednesday 9:00 until service time.
