WILLIAM M. "BILL" MCNISH William "Bill" McNish, age 92, of Cottonwood Falls, formerly of Americus, died Friday, March 2, 2012, at the Golden Living Center of Chase County in Cottonwood Falls, KS. A graveside service will be held Friday, March 9, 2012, at 2:00 P.M. in the Topeka Cemetery, Topeka, KS. Military honors will be conducted by a Fort Riley Honor Guard. The son of William L. and Della E. Draelants McNish, William Myrl was born December 28, 1919, in Cedar County, MO. He served, as a radio operator, in the United States Army during World War II in the Philippines. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal and a Phililppine Liberation Ribbon with one bronze star. He and Marjorie Lee Pendergraft were married in December of 1945 and she preceded him in death on November 7, 1979. He worked as a trucker driver for Graves Truck Line, Inc. and retired in 1975. He was a cowboy, working on a ranch in CO. in his younger years. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Chauffeurs, Warehousemen, & Helpers of America. He received several Professional Truck Driver Safe Driving Awards. He was a member of the American Legion and the Veteran of Foreign Wars. He is survived by his daughter, Geneva Centlivre, of Cottonwood Falls, two grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. He was preceded by three brothers: Thomas, Elmer and Eugene McNish; five sisters: Vera, Marie, Phyrn, Geneva, and Clara. The family will greet friends Thursday, from 6:00 until 7:30, at the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home. Friends may call Thursday, from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
