WILLIAM LANSBURY Obituary

WILLIAM "BILL" J. LANSBURY William "Bill" Lansbury, age 85, of Strong City, died Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at the Golden Living Center of Chase County in Cottonwood Falls, KS. A graveside service will be held Friday, June 29, at 10:00, at the Matfield Green Cemetery. The eulogy will be delivered by his son, John. The son of John T. and Emma L. Kukes Lansbury, Bill was born March 28, 1927, in Pontiac, MI. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Virginia Robinson on May 2, 1952, in Cottonwood Falls. She died in1979. He worked as a ranch laborer. He was a member of the Strong City United Methodist Church and the VFW in Cottonwood Falls. He is survived by two sons: John D. Lansbury and his wife, Terri, of St. Joseph, MO. and William J. Lansbury of Marysville, WA.; two daughters: Kathleen "Kate" S. Boehler and her husband, Clint, of Walsenburg, CO. and Rebecca J. Swart and her husband, Daniel, of Edmond, OK.; a brother, Carl Lansbury and his wife, Sylvia, of Claude, TX.; a sister, Gladys Stormont and her husband, James, of Versailles, MO.; seven grandchildren: Brian Lansbury, Phillip Swart, Nickalas Swart, Thomas Swart, Jessica Kinninger, Bridgette Varga, Jennifer Lansbury; and three great-grandchildren: Ava Lansbury and Elliott and Ethan Kinninger. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and a daughter, Judy Ann Lansbury. The family will meet friends Thursday, June 28, from 6:30 until 8:00, at the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home. Friends may call Thursday, 10:00 until 8:00 at the funeral home. Contributions to the Activities Fund at the Golden Living Center of Chase County may be sent in care of the funeral home, 201 Cherry, Cottonwood Falls, KS. 66845.
