Strong City Dateline Willa D. Jones, age 85, died Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at the Golden Living Center of Chase County in Cottonwood Falls, KS. A celebration of life service will be held on Monday, May 3, 2010, at 11:00 A.M. at Grace Lutheran Church in Strong City with Pastor David Parks officiating. Inurnment will follow at Strong City Cemetery in Strong City. She has been cremated. Willa Dorothy Hubert, the daughter of William and Pearl Haskins Hubert, was born September 13, 1924, in Strong City, KS. She graduated from Strong City High School. She and David P. Jones, Jr. were married January 11, 1944, at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He died January 10, 2001. She and David lived in Wichita from 1957 until 1989, when they moved back to Strong City. She was a homemaker and, while they were in Wichita, she worked as a payroll clerk for Steffens Dairy and Firestone Tire Company. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid. She is survived by three sons: Loren David Jones of Clearwater, KS., M. Paul Jones of Strong City, KS., and Kevin Dale Jones of Cottonwood Falls, KS.; nine grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Karl Hubert, and a sister, Dorothy Hubert Spain. There will be no family visitation. Friends may come by the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home Sunday, noon until 3:00 P.M., and at Grace Lutheran Church, 9:00 until service time Monday. Memorial contributions to Grace Lutheran Church or Grace Lutheran Church Building Fund may be sent in care of the funeral home, 201 Cherry, Cottonwood Falls, KS. 66845.
