Velma F. Rayl, age 94, of Emporia, died Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at the Flint Hills Care Center in Emporia. A celebration of life service will be held Friday 16, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at the Grace Methodist Church in Emporia, KS. The Rev. Earl Detwiler will officiate. Burial will be follow in the Hartford Cemetery in Hartford. KS. Velma F. Muir, the daughter of Frank C. and Alma Brown Muir, was born April 4, 1916, in Hartford, KS. She married Roscoe W. Rayl on November 1, 1935, in Hartford. He preceded her in death on November 14, 1967. She worked for Braums as the manager of the Peter Pan Store in Emporia, at Didde, and at Village School in food service. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women’s Circles, Garden Club, and VFW, American Legion, and Disabled American Veterans Auxiliaries all of Emporia. She is survived by a son, Charles Rayl and his wife, Merry, of Rural Strong City, KS. and a sister, Patricia Anderson of Topeka, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother: Russell Muir, and two sisters: Vivian Nichols and Viola Reece. There will be no family visitation. Friends may call from noon until 6:00 P.M. at the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home and from 11:00 A.M. at Grace Methodist Church.
