Susan F. Davis, 78, died November 10, 2024, at her home in Cottonwood Falls. She was born December 24, 1945, in Ponca City, OK, to Michael D. and Edna M. (Scott) Schuessler. Susan graduated from Wichita Southeast High School in 1963 and received her master’s degree in Fine Arts at Wichita State University. She was a staff artist at the Wichita Eagle Beacon.
On August 31, 1968, she married Larry M. Davis. They shared 53 years of marriage before he died on May 8, 2022.
She was truly a gifted woman of the arts. Susan did freelance art work, sign design, logo design, and calligraphy work, she designed the logo for the Tall Grass Prairie Preserve and the Symphony of the Flint Hills logo. She was also a talented seamstress, quilter and china painter. Her daughter remembers all of the art projects they did together and her favorite memory of one winter when they built a dragon sculpture out of snow and Susan got out her airbrush equipment and painted it.
Susan was the librarian at Burnley Memorial Library in Cottonwood Falls for 20 years and was an avid reader and instilled that in her daughter Elaine that same love of reading.
Susan is survived by: daughter, Elaine Davis of Cottonwood Falls; and brother, Scott Schuessler of Orlando, FL.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, K’Lyn Schuessler.
Per Susan’s wishes, cremation will take place and no service will be held. Memorial donations may be made to Burnley Memorial Library, in care of Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home, PO Box 220 Cottonwood Falls, KS 66845.
