Shawn W. Owen, 48, died May 13, 2026, at his home in Strong City. He was born July 5, 1977, in Sherman, TX, to Eddie and Kathy (Hendrix) Owen. Shawn graduated from Chase County High School in 1995. Shawn spent time cowboying before going to work for Norfolk Iron and Metal.

Shawn is survived by: daughter, Angie Owen and partner James; grandson, Sawyer Ortiz, all of Cottonwood Falls; father, Eddie Owen of Cottonwood Falls; mother, Kathy Hendrix of Council Grove; five brothers, Shannon Owen and wife Twyla of Strong City, Daniel Wilcox of Osage, OK, Caleb Poulton of Pawhuska, OK, Glen Blue of Cottonwood Falls, Cecil Blue of Emporia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Virgie and BL Owen and Shorty and Gloria Hendrix.

Memorial graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Bazaar Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shawn Owen Memorial Fund for Sawyer, in care of Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home PO Box 220 Cottonwood Falls, KS 66845.
