Ruby M. Everett

Ruby M. Everett, 100, died September 23, 2023, at Diversicare of Council Grove. She was born April 25, 1923, at the family home in Matfield Green, to Fred and Jennie (Cox) Swift. She graduated from Matfield Green High School in 1941. Ruby was avid fisherwoman, volunteered for the Chase County Food Pantry and was an actively involved member of the Cottonwood Falls Baptist church before it closed.

She married Paul Everett and they later divorced.

Ruby is survived by: son, Paul Ray Everett of Cottonwood Falls; grandchildren, Dawn Menz and husband Joe of Viera, FL, Christy Freriks and husband Dave of Bothell, WA, Lance Everett of Weatherford, TX; great grandchildren, Caleb and Nathan Menz, Alex and Thorin Freriks.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Harold, Ralph, Jewell, Forrester, Fred Jr., George, Robert, Charles; sister, Crystal Smith and former husband, Paul Everett.

Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 29, 2023, at Matfield Green Cemetery, with Reverend Pat Ireland officiating. Family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, September 28, 2023, at Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home, Cottonwood Falls.
