Roger L. Talkington, 70, died November 5, 2021, at his home, rural Cottonwood Falls. He was born December 9, 1950, in Strong City to Gerald L. and Mary Alice (Rippert) Talkington. Roger enjoyed going on treasure hunts.
On February 13, 1970, Roger was inducted into the United States Army. He was wounded in combat on December 10 and received a Purple Heart medal on December 11, 1970. Roger was transferred to the United States Army Reserves and then was honorably discharged on February 1, 1976. He was a proud veteran until the day he died.
Roger is survived by: siblings, Peggy Barrett and husband Raymond of Emporia, David Talkington of Cottonwood Falls, Sue McKinnon and husband Jim of Sherman, TX, John Talkington and husband Dr. Matt Snyder of Washington, D.C.; 7 nieces and nephews; 6 great nieces and nephews; and 3 great great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Michael Talkington.
Cremation will take place.
Rosary will be recited at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home with military honors following conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
