Rex E. Butter, 76, died April 12, 2023, at his home in rural Cottonwood Falls. He was born December 8, 1946, to Leroy and Levoda Butter in Emporia. He attending school in Strong City and graduated from High School in 1965.
He joined the United States Army shortly after graduating in 1965 and was honorably discharged in 1969.
He married Kim Jones on March 30, 1974. They had two children, Chad and Sondra. They lived in Chase County.
Rex had worked in road construction all of his life and retired in 2014. He started working for Chase County Road and Bridge and retired in 2020.
Rex was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He enjoyed playing with his grandson Ethan and great granddaughter Avery.
He also enjoyed being a mechanic and working with machinery and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sharon Sparks and son, Chad Butter.
Rex is survived by his wife of the home; daughter, Sondra; grandchildren, Kayla, Ethan and Courtney; great granddaughter, Avery; brother, Cecil Butter and sister, Nancy Falkman.
Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 17, 2023, at Bazaar Cemetery. There is no visitation planned. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Rex Butter Memorial Fund for the Butter Grandchildren, in care of Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home PO Box 220 Cottonwood Falls, KS 66845.
