RUBY VIOLA MCCABE YOAKEM

Ruby Viola (McCabe) Yoakem, 98, passed away May 29, 2010, at the Golden Living Center in Cottonwood Falls, KS. She was born on February 22, 1912, at Bazaar, the daughter of James B. and LaVern (Heathman) McCabe. She married Elmo "Bus" Yoakem on October 18, 1933, in Hutchinson; he preceded her in February 1991. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Presbyterian Women. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Bernard and Claude McCabe, and sisters, Helen Chapman, Bernice Goodrich, and Julia Hull. She is survived by her children: G. Lucille and husband Ray Robinson of Burns; Donald R. and wife Anita Yoakem of Cottonwood Falls; and Ronald D. and wife Sharlot Yoakem of Benton; sisters, Betty Lu Varhley of Port Ewen, NY; and Bonnie Lee Schmidt of Emporia; 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Viewing will be held Wednesday, from 1 - 5 p.m. and funeral service on Thursday, June 3, 2010, at 10 a.m. both at Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home in Cottonwood Falls, KS. Interment will be in the Bazaar Cemetery. Memorial funds have been established for the Hospice Care of Kansas or the Chase County Emergency Medical Services in care of Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home, 201 Cherry Street, Cottonwood Falls, KS, 66845.
