Ron McComber, age 67, of Strong City, Kansas, died Monday, March 7, 2011, at his home in Strong City. There will be a celebration of his life March 17, 2011, at the family farm. Cremation has taken place. The family will have a private inurnment service at a later date. The son of Roy and Mary O’Hara McComber, he was born November 9, 1943, in Quincy, Illinois. He attended Davenport, Iowa, high school and completed his GED. He served in the United States Air Force. He and Marilyn Sigler were married November 25, 1977, in Cottonwood Falls, KS. He was a Union Sheet Metal Worker/Welder and, later, he farmed and raised pigs. He and Marilyn delivered the Topeka Capital Journal newspaper. He is survived by his wife, of the home; two sons: Ronald (R.J.) McComber and Thomas (T.R.) McComber of the home; three brothers: Robert McComber of Phoenix, AZ., Russ McComber of Davenport, Iowa, and Dick McComber of Tiskilwa, IL.; two sisters: Marsha Alison of San Diego, CA. and Sue Dillon of Davenport, Iowa; and three grandchildren: Chancellor McComber, Avery McComber, and Vance McComber. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Ralph McComber and a sister, Carol McComber. There will be no formal visitation.
