ROBERT "BOB" LEE NICHOLS Robert Nichols, age 76, of Cottonwood Falls, Kansas, died at his home in Cottonwood Falls on Tuesday, January 18, 2011. A graveside celebration of life service will be held Friday, January 21, 2011, at 2:00 P.M., at the Prairie Grove Cemetery west of Cottonwood Falls, KS. Chaplain Hal Lewis will conduct the service. Military honors will be conducted by a Fort Riley Honor Detail. The son of Elmer and Alta Jane Thurman Nichols, Robert Lee was born June 5, 1934, at Chanute, KS. He graduated from Chanute High School. He served in the U.S. Army. He and Elma Louise Bruce were married August 4, 1961. at the manse of the First Presbyterian Church in Cottonwood Falls, KS. He worked at Crawford Manufacturing, Montgomery Ward, and retired from Evco in 2004 as a shipping and receiving clerk. He and his wife did furniture restoration and upholstering. He is survived by his wife, Elma, of the home; a son, Rick L. Nichols of Dell Rapids, South Dakota; two daughters: Sandra "Sandy" K. Nichols and Connie L. Colbruno both of Cottonwood Falls, KS.; five grandchildren: Jennifer Swift, Jacob Colbruno, Ryan Nichols, Brett Nichols, and Jeremy Green; and two great grandchildren: Sierra Potter and Nathaniel Green. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Ernest Nichols and Chester Nichols; and a sister, Ruby Sharp. The casket will be closed. There will be no formal family visitation. Friends may call Thursday, noon until 5:00 P.M. and Friday, 9:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home.
