ROBERT W. FILLMORE Strong City-Dateline Robert W. Fillmore, age 71, of Strong City, KS., died November 23, 2011, at the Morris County Hospital, in Council Grove, KS. A celebration of life service will be held Tuesday, November 29, 2011, at 2:00 P.M., at the First Baptist Church in Cottonwood Falls, KS. Pastor David Hatch will officiate at the service. Interment will follow in Bazaar Cemetery at Bazaar, KS. The son of Edward W. and Zelda Spain Fillmore, Robert Wayne was born February 26, 1940, in Cottonwood Falls, KS. He and Carol Jean Garr were married July 16, 1967, in Cottonwood Falls, KS. He was a truck driver/rancher/farmer. He drove a truck for years, worked at the Z Bar Ranch, managed Fox Creek Ranch for several years, and worked for Chase County Road & Bridge Department as a road grader. After his retirement in 2005, he drove a truck for Murphy Agri, and Palenski Ranch. He worked with rodeos most of his life and served as director for the Flint Hills Rodeo Association Board. He is survived by his wife, Carol, of the home; son, Roy Wayne Fillmore, of Strong City, KS.; two daughters: Marilee Jean Brittain of Matfield Green, KS. and Lisa Marie Fillmore of Emporia, KS.; a brother, Bill Fillmore of Cottonwood Falls, KS.; six sisters: Peg Kent of Smackover, AR., Pat Donelson of Cottonwood Falls, KS., Betty Yoakem of Kennesaw, GA., Carol Sue Talley of Rockport, TX., Carla Gibb of Charlotte, NC., and Kay Kleinsorge of Buda, TX.; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers: Hop Fillmore and Gene Fillmore. There will be no formal family visitation. The family requests casual attire for those attending the service. Friends may call Monday, from 10:00 A.M. until 6:00 P.M., at the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home and Tuesday, from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the church.
