Marvin grew up in Sydney, MT on his family farm raising cattle and sheep and growing sugar beets and corn. After graduating from Sydney High School, Marvin attended Montana State University in Bozeman, MT, where he received his bachelor’s degree in Industrial Arts in 1959. This is where he met his wife and on July 11, 1959, Marvin married Peggy Robinson. They shared almost 63 years of marriage. Marvin taught school for several years in Montana and North Dakota. Marvin and Peggy raised their family of three children in Stanley, ND, where he sold insurance for Lutheran Brotherhood and were members of the Stanley Lutheran Church in Stanley, North Dakota, for 18 years. Marvin enjoyed deer and bird hunting, fishing, rebuilding cars for his kids, and was very active with Boy Scout Troops focusing on gun safety and camping skills, in addition to helping his son become an Eagle Scout. Supporting his wife through her Master of Education degree and to be near his two grandsons, Marvin and Peggy moved to Redlands, CA, where he worked for the University of Redlands specializing in hydraulic water systems for 10 years. Marvin was very proud of his two grandsons and their multiple accomplishments with school, careers and family. After retirement and upon the birth of his third grandchild, Marvin and Peggy moved to Kansas, where for the past 14 years have enjoyed working with his son-in-law, Gene Matile, and babysitting his granddaughter at the nearest sales barn when she was young. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow and became a proud great grandpa within the past year. Marvin enjoyed traveling extensively in the US with his wife, particularly enjoying riverboat cruises and going to the lake in Minnesota.
