MILDRED ANN CAMPBELL PHILLIPS Mildred A. Phillips, age 97, of Cottonwood Falls, Kansas, died Sunday, June 19, 2011, at the Golden Living Center of Chase County in Cottonwood Falls. A celebration of life service will be held Thursday, June 23, 2011, at 2:00 P.M., at the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home. The Celebrant will be Susan Alexander. Burial will follow in the Phillips Cemetery near Reading, Kansas. The daughter of George Thomas and Lida Thomas Campbell, Mildred Ann was born December 5, 1913, in Council Grove. She attended and graduated from Americus High School. She worked at a hardware store in Americus and for a telephone service in Council Grove before she was married. She and Walter W. Phillips were married on March 17, 1934, in Americus. He died June 1, 1991. They moved to Chase County in 1952. She was a homemaker, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a member of the First United Methodist of Cottonwood Falls, United Methodist Women, Kensington Club, and morning coffee group. She is survived by her children: Gerald W. "Gary" Phillips of Elmdale, Sharon Phillips Dupuis of Cottonwood Falls, and Sonda Phillips Bruce of Branson, Missouri; ten grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Warren Phillips; three brothers; and six sisters. The family will meet friends Wednesday, from 6:00 until 7:30 P.M., at the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home in Cottonwood Falls. Friends may call Wednesday, from 9:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. and Thursday, from 9:00 until service time, at the funeral home.
