Lucy Pritchett Obituary

Lucy Virginia (Campbell) Pritchett, 100 years old, formerly of Cottonwood Falls, peacefully passed away on April 7, 2024 at Kidron Bethel Village in North Newton, KS.

Lucy was born August 22, 1923 to May (Dawson) and Joel Campbell in Plymouth, KS. She married Harry J. Pritchett on September 15, 1940 at the Chase County Courthouse. They lived in Chase County until his retirement. They then moved to Florence for 15 years. They later moved to Kidron Bethel where they lived the better part of 20 years. After Harry’s death in 2017, Lucy remained at Kidron. There Lucy was an avid volunteer and participated in many Kidron activities. She helped decorate the facility for holidays and also helped design and maintain the library where residents could exchange books for their enjoyment. She worked at Kidron well into her 80’s in instruction of water aerobics for residents.

Lucy & Harry shared 76 years of marriage. Most of her life she was homemaker, however, she did work in various businesses including waitressing at local restaurants. She also worked at St. Mary’s Hospital in Emporia in the 1960’s. She later worked at the Chase County Nursing Center. She loved animals, gardening and sewing. She also enjoyed camping and fishing with her grandchildren, as well as, traveling with her husband, family and friends.

Lucy is survived by her children: Connie Dick of Emporia, Danny Pritchett of Clearwater, KS, Tom Pritchett and wife, Vicky of Peabody, Leta Solis DeMayo and husband, Tom of Augusta. Lucy has 12 Grandchildren; 23 Great Grandchildren; and 20 Great Great-Grandchildren, many of them still residing in Chase County.
