Leonard “Butch” Klenk, 82, died November 29, 2024, at Diversicare of Council Grove. He was born March 1, 1942, in Strong City, to Theodore W. and Beth L. (May) Klenk. Butch graduated from Saffordville High School in 1960 and attended one year of college. He first started working in heavy machinery construction and then went to work at Didde Web Press Corporation until they closed. After Didde closed, Butch went to work for and retired from the Chase County Highway Department as a truck driver.
Butch and Kay along with the Chase County Recreation Commission started the Chase County Kids Fishing Derby. Butch was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed hunting.
On February 14, 1970, he married Sharon “Kay” Scott in White City.
Butch is survived by: wife, Kay of the home; fur companion/best friend, Briar; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Joyce.
Per Butch’s wishes, cremation will take place and private family service will be held in the spring. Memorial donations may be made to Chase County Kids Fishing Derby or Toledo Township Community Building, in care of Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home PO Box 220 Cottonwood Falls, KS 66845.
