Cottonwood Falls Lupe G. Solis, 84, of Cottonwood Falls, died Friday, October 2, 2009, at her home. A Rosary will be recited Tuesday, October 6, 2009, at 6:30 P.M. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Strong City, KS. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2009. at 10:00 A.M., at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Strong City with Father Edmond Kline, Celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Anthony Cemetery, rural Strong City. Lupe G. Rangel, the daughter of Jose Pedro and Nicanora Gutierrez Rangel was born March 11, 1925, in Emporia, KS. She and Carmel R. Solis were married January 18, 1947, in Emporia, KS. He preceded her in death March 4, 1985. She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. She is survived by five sons: Fred Solis of El Dorado, KS., Arthur Solis of Olathe, KS., Carmel Solis of Andover, KS., and Albert Solis and Orlando Solis of Wichita, KS.; two daughters: Deborah Barnaby of Emporia, KS. and Mary Thompson of Cottonwood Falls; 17 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Alex Solis; a granddaughter, Genevieve Montenegro; a great granddaughter, Karma Carranza-Barnaby; eight brothers: Mercede, Frank, John, Marcelino, Martin, Paul, Sisto, and Joe Rangel; and two sisters: Ida Solis and Delores Main. The family will meet friends Tuesday, 4:00 until 5:30 P.M., at Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home. Friends may call Tuesday, 9:00 A.M. until 5:30 P.M. at the funeral home.
