LOIS E. MCFADDEN LUNDGREN BUTCHER

Toledo Township Lois E. Butcher, age 80, of Toledo Township, died Friday, May 14, 2010, at Newman Regional Health in Emporia, KS. A celebration of life service will be held Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at 10:30 A.M., at the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home in Cottonwood Falls. Pastor Lori Schwilling will conduct the service. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery at Toledo Township, KS. Lois E. McFadden, the daughter of George and Hazel Mae Medearis McFadden, was born May 17, 1929, at Yates Center, Kansas. The family moved to Chase County in 1932. Lois graduated from Chase County High School with the class of 1947. That summer, she operated the Ice Cream Parlor in Cottonwood Falls. She, later, took the position of bookkeeper at the Ford Agency for Spike Bjork in Cottonwood Falls. She moved to Salina and worked in the Motor Vehicle Dept. of the Saline County Treasurer’s Office. She met and married Richard Allen Lundgren. They were the parents of twins, a son and a daughter. The family moved to Marion, KS. and purchased the Elgin Hotel. They were divorced and he died in 1995. Lois married William S. Razer, Jr. of Marion. They were divorced and he died in 2001. She worked as a dental receptionist several years for E.K. Schroeder, D.D.S. After his retirement, she worked for Mark Heidibrecht, D.D.S. until her retirement in 1991. Lois moved back to Chase County and married her high school friend, Walter E. Butcher. They were married June 24, 1991, at Saffordville United Methodist Church. They lived in the Toledo area of Chase County. She was an active member of the Saffordville United Methodist Church-serving on different committees over the years. She served as secretary for the Administrative Council for 10 years. She is survived by her husband, Walter, of the home; a son, Kenneth Allen Lundgren of Marion, KS.; a daughter, Kendra Sue Lundgren McDermeit of Winter Haven FL.; four grandchildren: Bree Ann McDermeit, Jennifer Kay Lundgren, Tyler Joe McDermeit, and Renae Nicole Lundgren Plett; a sister, Melva Jean Cruce of Vasser, KS.; a half-sister, Kathleen Huffman of Meadeville, Mississippi; and a brother, Bill McFadden of Joplin, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Vera Mae McFadden; and brothers, Bobby and Louis McFadden. The family will meet friends Monday, from 6:00 until 7:30 P.M., at the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral in Cottonwood Falls. Friends may call Monday, from 9:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. and Tuesday, from 9:00 until service time at the funeral home. Messages to the family may be left at www.brown-bennett-alexander.com.
