Keith Huth Obituary

Keith H. Huth, 83, died April 24, 2025, at Diversicare in Council Grove. He was born April 12, 1942, in Emporia. His parents were William and Helen (Stenzel) Huth. Keith graduated from Chase County Community High School in 1960 and from Emporia State University in 1964. Keith’s father was a carpenter and together they built many houses in Chase County and Council Grove. They also built Messiah Lutheran Church in Emporia. Keith enjoyed coin collecting and fishing but his passion was coaching. He was a baseball coach for over 50 years in Nebraska and Kansas. He loved coaching his grandsons when they were younger. When Keith and his wife moved back to Kansas they owned and operated Huth Lumber and Hardware in Cottonwood Falls before retiring in 2010.

Keith met Nancy Carol Gwyn at National College in Kansas City, MO. They were married August 2, 1963 in Emporia. They shared 58 years of marriage before Nancy died on August 29, 2021.

Keith is survived by: children, Bill Huth and wife Deb of Emporia, Sonia Kelley and husband Scott of Douglass, Cindy Groh and husband Brian of Cottonwood Falls; grandchildren, Victoria Lewis and husband Jordan of Douglass, Cassandra Stevens and husband Keegan of Andover, Ryan Huth and wife Reba of Phoenix, AZ, Hunter Groh and wife Maddison of Emporia and Tucker Groh of Cottonwood Falls; great grandchildren, Drake Lewis, Brooklyn Lewis, Harper Stevens, Hudson Stevens and Nolan Huth; brother, Gary Huth; and sister-in-law, Sandy Kinney.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Nancy.

Cremation will take place.

Celebration of life service will be 5:00 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2025, at Grace Lutheran Church, Strong City, with Pastor Norbert Tegtmeier officiating. Private family inurnment will take place. Family will greet friends after the service. Memorial donations may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, in care of Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home PO Box 220 Cottonwood Falls, KS 66845.
