KETH NELSON Obituary

KETH H. NELSON Strong City Dateline Keth H. Nelson, 47, died suddenly Saturday, October 13, 2007, at his home in Strong City, KS. A celebration of life service will be held Wednesday, October 17, 2007, at 11:00 A.M., at Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home in Cottonwood Falls, with The Rev. Larry Timm officiating. Cremation will take place following the service. A family inurnment will be in Prairie Grove Cemetery, rural Cottonwood Falls, at a later date. Keth H. Nelson was born February 3, 1960, in Eureka, CA., to Kenneth H. and Barbara Thomas Nelson. He served in the U.S. Army. He and Cheryl Keil were married October 17, 1981, in Russell, KS. They later divorced. He married Brenda Zimmerman on July 3, 1993, in Strong City, KS. When he came to Chase County, he drove a school bus, worked as a para-professional at Cottonwood Falls Grade School and coached baseball. For a while, he worked as a heavy equipment operator in a rock quarry. He had a lawn mowing service and was the co-owner of the Roadhouse Bar & Grill in Strong City. He was baptized in the Cedar Point church. He is survived by his wife, of the home; four sons: Ben Nelson of Strong City, Clint Nelson of Garden City, Austin Nelson, and Dexter Nelson of the home; one daughter, Holly Nelson of Great Bend; mother, Barbara Nelson of Strong City; father, Kenneth Nelson of Moline, IL.; a brother, Kenny Nelson of Wichita; and his ex-wife, Cheryl of Great Bend. He was preceded in death by a sister, Debra Nelson. The family will greet friends Tuesday, from 6:30 until 7:30 P.M., at the funeral home. Friends may call Tuesday, 9:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. and Wednesday, 9:00 A.M. until service time. Memorial contributions to an education fund for his children may be sent in care of the funeral home, 201 Cherry, Cottonwood Falls, KS. 66845.
