KATHLEEN DICKERSON KELLY Emporia Dateline Kathleen Kelly, 54, formerly of Strong City, died Saturday, December 8, 2007, at her daughter’s home in rural Emporia, KS. A celebration of life service will be held Thursday, December 13, 2007, at 2:00 P.M., at the First Baptist Church in Cottonwood Falls with Pastor Rick Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Strong City Cemetery, Strong City, Kansas. The daughter of Lemuel Slaid and Margaret Josephine Gossard Dickerson, Kathleen was born June 18, 1953, in Dayton, Ohio. She attended Emporia High School. She and James Kelly were married September 5, 1975, in Emporia, Ks. They were divorced. She was a homemaker and worked as a waitress at the S&S Café in Emporia and the Emma Chase Café in Cottonwood Falls. She, also, worked for the Chase County Health Department doing home health care. She had been a member of the First Baptist Church in Cottonwood Falls, KS. She is survived by a son, James Robert Kelly, Jr. of Strong City, KS.; two daughters: Margaret Ann Swartz of Emporia, KS. and Kimberly Lee Kelly of Emporia, KS.; her mother, Margaret Josephine Gossard of Emporia, KS.; three brothers: Richard Eugene Dickerson of Lee’s Summitt. MO., Lemuel Slaid Dickerson of Ottawa, KS., and Karl Dickerson of Xenia, OH.; two sisters, Deborah Ann Coop of VanCouver, WA., and Darla Lynn Kaufman of Burlington, KS.; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father and grandparents, Florence and Paul Gossard. Family visitation will be Wednesday, December 12, 2007, from 6:30 until 7:30 P.M. at the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home in Cottonwood Falls, KS. Memorial contributions to Hand in Hand Hospice or a funeral expenses fund may be sent in care of the funeral home, 201 Cherry, Cottonwood Falls, KS. 66845.
