KAREN SIGEL KAISER Brumley, Missouri Karen Kaiser, age 59, of Brumley, MO. and formerly of Cottonwood Falls, KS., died Saturday, April 11, 2009, at her home. A graveside service will be held Thursday, April 16, 2009, at 1:00 P.M., at Prairie Grove Cemetery in rural Cottonwood Falls, KS. with The Rev. Myron Fesler of the Hedges-Scott Funeral Home, Osage Beach, MO. The daughter of Dr. Carter B. and Faye Crawford Sigel, Karen was born September 19, 1949, in Strong City, KS. She graduated from Chase County High School in 1967. She was graduated from Kansas State University in 1971 with a degree in Horticulture and she played on the women’s basketball team. She married Harold Dean Shepherd on August 20, 1971, in Cottonwood Falls, KS. He died December 15, 1988. She married Francis Kaiser in June of 1989. He survives. She was a mail carrier in the Brumley area for some time. She was an outgoing and vivacious person who made an impact wherever she was. In her spare time, she loved to hunt and fish. She attended the United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, Francis of the home; a son, Brian D. Shepherd of Brumley, MO.; three brothers: Joe Sigel of Paola, KS., Steve Sigel of Mechanicsville, VA., and Eric Sigel of Cottonwood Falls, KS., two sisters: Greta Crawford of Sundance, WY. and Dr. Coleen Troutman of Peoria, IL., and four grandchildren.
