We regret to announce the passing of John Riggs Conklin, age 83, who passed away peacefully on Sunday October 13, 2024, in Kansas City, MO.
John was born July 13th, 1941, in Osawatomie, KS, the son of Vernon and Mildred (Knight) Conklin who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by sister, Helen Conklin Beyer and grandson, Eric Conklin. John is survived by wife, Eloise; son, James "Mickey" Conklin and Denise of Norman, OK; daughter, JoNell Hovey and Steve of Kansas City, MO, daughter, Karen Estes and James of Kansas City, MO; and son, David Conklin and Kelli of Parkville, MO; eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
John served as Master Trooper in the Kansas Highway Patrol for nearly 30 years before retirement. He then became District Magistrate Judge for the counties of Chase and Lyon Kansas.
John loved to hunt, fish, garden, travel and spend time on his farm where he could be found raising bucket calves and riding his four wheeler. He loved his Lord, family and community.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 18, 2024, at Flint Hills Community Church, with Pastor Dave Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Toledo Township. Friends may sign the book 1-5 p.m. Thursday, October 17, 2024, at the funeral home.
