Jay Everett Ward, 66, died April 25, 2025, at Newman Regional Medical, Emporia. He was born June 16, 1958, in Compton, CA, to William E. and Dorothy M. (Lawrence) Ward. Jay worked in the roadwork and building construction industry and was also a mechanic. Jay had an artistic gift and was a skillful drawer.
Jay is survived by: sisters, Charlene Lawrence of Wichita, Mary Beck of Duncan, OK, Sue Cress and husband Brandon of Pittsburg; uncle, Vernon Lawrence of Kaiser, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Norman Dale Coe; nephews, Tony Taylor, Norman Dale Coe Jr.; and niece, Jamie Lynn Ward.
Cremation will take place.
Celebration of life gathering will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Elmdale Park. Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, in care of Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home PO Box 220 Cottonwood Falls, KS 66845.
