Obituary
James R. Kelly Sr., 84, died March 25, 2023, at Chase County Care and Rehab. He was born January 19, 1939, in Joliet, IL, to Joseph H. and Charlotte “Lottie” M. (Gwin) Kelly. Jim had worked in construction, did carpentry, and was a welder. He was a jack of all trades and enjoyed fishing, camping, reading and was even an ordained minister.
Jim is survived by: children, Kimberly L. Kelly of Hutchinson, James R. “Jim” Kelly Jr. and wife Camille of Strong City; grandchildren, Kathleen “Nikki” Swearingin and fiancé, Daniel, Daniel Elliott, Cody Kelly and wife Jessica, Cory Kelly and wife Cassidy, Chelsea Kelly, Wayne Arnold; 8 great grandchildren; and sister, Faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 25 years and mother of his children, Kathleen (Dickerson) Kelly; daughter, Margaret A. Swartz; and brother, Don Kelly.
Per James’ wishes, cremation will take place and private family service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Donor’s Choice, in care of Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home PO Box 220 Cottonwood Falls, KS 66845.
