JEAN C. IVEY
Wichita Dateline Jean C. Ivey, age 77, formerly of Strong City, died Friday, February 5, 2010, at her home in Wichita, KS. A celebration of life service will be held Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at 2:00 P.M., at Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home, in Cottonwood Falls, KS. with Pastor Jim Bartsch officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie Grove Cemetery west of Cottonwood Falls. The daughter of Bert and Olive Brown Collins, Jean Collins was born March 7, 1932, in Strong City, Kansas. She attended grade school in Strong City. During her life, she lived several places, but always called Chase County "her home." She was a housewife and mother. She had been a member of the Congregational Church in Strong City and she had many memories of her time there. More recently, she was a member of Emanuel Baptist Church. Survivors are James L Clark, Jr. of Gladstone, MO.; a daughter, Joy D. Sanderson of Herington, KS.; sisters: Lola M. Long of Topeka, KS. and Silvia V. Ecton of Wichita, KS.; eight grandchildren: Allison Clark, Michelle Weatherton, Annette McCormick, Tifni Fredrickson, Devon Clark, snd Jessica Sanderson; two step-grandchildren: Tyler Hutchcraft and Valencia Holle; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter , Victoria "Vikki" Fredrickson January 3, 2006; her parents, three brothers: Earnie A. Collins, Vernie E. Collins; and Elmer E. Collins; and two sisters: Olive B. Mullin and Bertha L. Greenfield. The family will meet friends Tuesday, from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. at the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home. Friends may call Tuesday, from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday, from 9:00 until service time.
