JAMES O. "JIM" RAUSCH Strong City Dateline James "Jim" Rausch, 70 yrs. of age, died Saturday, October 18, 2008, at Morris County Hospital in Council Grove, Kansas. A rosary will be recited by Father Edmond Kline on Monday, October 20, 2008, at 7:00 P.M., at the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home in Cottonwood Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, October 20, 2008, at 10:30 A.M., at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Strong City, KS. Interment will follow the mass at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in rural Strong City, KS. The son of Peter and Louise Melcher Rausch, James O. Rausch was born November 25, 1937, at Garden Plain, Kansas. He and Phylis S. Kee were married May 23, 1959, at Yates Center, Kansas. He served in the National Guard for 5 years. He was a cowboy for 13 years and worked for Kleinsorge and Crofoot in Chase County. He worked as road maintainer for Chase County Road and Bridge before his retirement at the age of 62. During this time, he and his son, John, built miles of fence in the local area. He is survived by his wife, Phylis, of the home; a son, John L. Rausch of rural Cottonwood Falls; a daughter, Carol J. Cahoone of rural Cottonwood Falls; a brother, Joe Rausch of Goddard, KS.; a sister, Delores Cool of Park City, KS.; four grandchildren: Wesley D. Cahoone, Ashley D. Cahoone, Jessica L. Kocher, and Justin A. Rausch; and one great granddaughter: Kaitlyn A. Kocher. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Antionette Puetz.
