JAMES "JIM" H. COOPER Grandview Community Dateline James H. Cooper, 72, died Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at the Golden Living Center of Chase County in Cottonwood Falls, Kansas. A graveside memorial service will be held Monday, March 10, 2008, at 1:00 P.M. at the Bazaar Cemetery near Bazaar, KS. with Mr. Fay Russett officiating. Cremation has taken place. James Harvey Cooper, the son of Elmer and Orea Maddox Cooper, was born May 15, 1935, in Bazaar, KS. He worked at the Anderson Cattle Co., before joining the U.S. Army. He and Peggy L. Jones were married March 8, 1957, in Emporia, KS. He worked for Interstate Bakery for 32 years, retiring in 1997. During this time and after his retirement, he trained race horses. He had thoroughbred, paint, and quarter horses. He was a member of the Thoroughbred Association, the Quarter Horse Association, and the Paint Horse Association. He is survived by his wife, Peggy, of the home; two sons: J. E. Cooper of Grandview Community, KS. and Clay Cooper of rural Cottonwood Falls, KS.; one daughter, Vickie Cooper of Ames, IA.; two grandchildren: Lacey Dawn Cooper Miller and Christopher Clay Cooper. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Joe "Bud" Cooper, Robert "Pete" Cooper, and Edgar "Puncher" Cooper and one sister, Dorthea Duncan Belik.
