Strong City Dateline "Jim" Blackmore, age 56, died Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at Stormont-Vail in Topeka, KS. A graveside service and inurnment will be held Saturday, July 25, 2009, at 2:00 P.M., at the Matfield Green Cemetery in Matfield Green with Pastor Bill Blackmore officiating. He has been cremated. The son of Frank J. and Alzena R. King Blackmore, James Doyle was born July 10, 1952, in Garden City, Kansas. He attended and graduated from Sublette High School in Sublette, KS. He was married to and divorced from Sylvia Johnson. He was married to and divorced from Judy O’Brien. He and Marilyn Lawrence Ammel were married February 14, 2001, in the Chase County Courthouse. She survives. When he lived in the Sublette and Garden City area, he worked at the Sublette and the Garden City elevators. He, later, worked as a mechanic at J & J Equipment in Bronson, KS. Then he moved to Strong City and worked at Clark's Farm Store. Before he was forced to retire due to health problems, he did odd jobs. He is survived by a son, Matthew O’Brien of Kincaid, MO.; a daughter, Jamie Rae Teeters of Pineville, MO.; two brothers: Robert Lynn Blackmore of El Dorado, KS. and Bill Joe Blackmore of Wilsey; a sister, Donna Algene Clutter of Strong City, KS.; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Junie Alzena. There will be no visitation.
