FRANCIS WILSON Obituary

FRANCIS WILSON Cottonwood Falls Dateline Francis Wilson, age 91, died Thursday, March 19, 2009, at the Golden Living Center of Chase County in Cottonwood Falls. A celebration of life service will be held Thursday, March 26, 2009, at 10:00 A.M., at the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home with The Rev. Melody Kimbrel, of the Cottonwood Falls United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery at Toledo Township, KS. The son of Bruce E. and Iva Lewis Wilson, Francis Wilson was born September 16, 1917, in Morehead, KS. He graduated from Chase County High School in the class of 1937. He and Ruth Louise Norton were married March 16, 1945, in Lawrence, KS. She preceded him in death July 6, 2000. After school, he and his brother did custom farm work and trucked. He moved to Ottawa in 1940. There he farmed with his dad and bought a place. After selling the farm in the early 1950’s, he was in the dump truck business. He moved to Emporia, KS. in 1974 and did livestock hauling for many years. In 2001, he moved to Cottonwood Falls. He served as a Seaman in the Merchant Marines and was a member of the Farm Bureau. He is survived by a brother, Guy Wilson of Park City, KS.; a sister, Elma M. Wilson Wallace of Westgate Village, CA.; six nephews: Tom Wilson and Doug Wilson of Emporia, Dave Wilson of Strong City, Danny Wilson of Abilene, Glenn Wallace of Simivalley, CA, and Phil Norton of Valis, CO.; and four nieces: Nancy Hainey of Cottonwood Falls, Valerie Bechtel of Hartford, Janet McCamah of Chatworth, CA. and Patty Wilson of Wichita, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Everett Edwin Wilson. The family will meet friends Wednesday, March 25, 6:00 until 7:30 P.M., at the funeral home. Friends may call Tuesday, 1:00 until 6:00 P.M., Wednesday, 9:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M., and Thursday, 9:00 A.M. until service time.
