Elma L. Nichols

Elma L. Nichols, 86, died April 5, 2025, at Newman Regional Medical, in Emporia, KS. She was born August 1, 1938, in Cottonwood Falls, KS, to William L. and Ethel Mae (Watchous) Bruce. Elma graduated from Chase County Community High School in 1956. She was a CNA in Home Health. Elma was an avid cross stitcher, enjoyed puzzle books, word searches and camping. Her and her husband Bob owned and operated the furniture restoration and upholstery business in Cottonwood Falls.

On August 4, 1961, she married Robert “Bob” Lee Nichols at the Presbyterian Church in Cottonwood Falls. They shared almost 50 years of marriage before he died on January 18, 2011.

Elma is survived by children: Rick Nichols and wife Cindy of Salina, KS; Sandy Nichols of Cottonwood Falls, KS; grandchildren, Jennifer Stinson, Jeremy Green (wife, LaVerne), Jacob Colbruno, Ryan Nichols (wife, Rebecca), Brett Nichols; great grandchildren, Sierra Potter, Nathaniel Green, Madelyn Green, Rowan Nichols and one on the way; great great-grandchildren, Zayden, Isabella, Mariana and Leti; sisters, Jane Bower (husband, Roy) of Buena Vista, CO and Pat Henderson (husband, Ted) of Lebo, KS.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob Nichols; daughter, Connie Colbruno; and sister, Willa “Dottie” McGrew.

Cremation will take place.

Celebration of life graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 14, 2025, at Prairie Grove Cemetery, Cottonwood Falls. No visitation is planned. Memorial donations may be made to donor’s choice, in care of Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home PO Box 220 Cottonwood Falls, KS 66845.
