DELORES B. SWIFT LONG Cottonwood Falls Dateline Delores Long, 62, died Thursday, March 20, 2008, at Select Specialty Hospital in Topeka, KS. A celebration of life service will be held Monday, March 24, 2008, at 2:00 P.M. at the Flint Hills Community Church in Cottonwood Falls with Pastor Jim Bartsch officiating. Interment will follow at Prairie Grove Cemetery in rural Cottonwood Falls. Delores B. Long, the daughter of Charles W. and Betty Bill Payton Swift, was born May 26, 1945, in Emporia, KS. She graduated from Matfield Green High School and served on the Matfield Green Alumni Association Board for many years. She and Robert L. "Bob" Long were married October 31, 1964, in Matfield Green. She was an active person who worked at several grocery stores in Chase County, painted and wallpapered, taught art in the after-school program, sang at many funerals, and worked as "relief" at the Chase County Courthouse in the Road & Bridge and the Appraiser’s offices. She had been a member of Matfield Community Church and Cottonwood Falls United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Embroidery Club, and Chase County Artists Guild. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. She is survived by her husband, Bob, of the home; a daughter, Teresa K. Campbell of Independence, KS.; a son, Jesse L. Long of Lebo, KS.; her parents of Matfield Green, KS.; six grandchildren; and one great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Hugh Swift. The casket will be closed. Friends may call at the funeral home, Sunday, noon until 4:30 P.M. The family will meet friends at the Flint Hills Community Church, on Highway 177 in the south end of Cottonwood Falls Sunday, 6:30 until 8:00 P.M.
