CARSON CRAWFORD Obituary

CARSON E. CRAWFORD Cottonwood Falls Dateline Carson E. Crawford, 93, of Cottonwood Falls, formerly of Florence, died Monday, January 26, 2009, at Newman Regional Health in Emporia, KS. A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, January 31, 2009, at 2:00 P.M., at the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home, in Cottonwood Falls, with The Rev. John Hastings of the Elmdale United Methodist Church in Elmdale. Interment will follow in Prairie Grove Cemetery in rural Cottonwood Falls. The son of Ray T. and Pearl M. Ramsey Crawford, Carson was born November 9, 1915, at Valley Center, Kansas. He graduated from Valley Center High School and he attended Wichita University. Carson and Elizabeth Ellen Childs were married June 25, 1939, at the First Methodist Church in Wichita, Kansas. They farmed in Marion County, west of Florence, until their retirement in 2000. They moved to Cottonwood Falls after retirement. He is survived by his wife, "Libby," of the home; three sons: Philip S. Crawford of Port Townsend, WA., Michael C. Crawford, and his wife, Arlene J.,of Topeka, KS., and Mark L. Crawford, and his wife, Marianna D. of Moundridge, KS.; a daughter, Deborah K. E. Crawford of Colorado Springs, CO.; seven grandchildren: Connie Carlson, Michael Crawford, Chris Crawford, Tim Crawford, Amy Crawford, Dave Crawford, and Marleigha Schroeder; and seven great-grandchildren: Ashley Carlson, Alyssa Carlson, Avery Carlson, Seth Crawford, Jacob Mathis, Joseph Mathis, and Michaela Mathis. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Victor Crawford, and two sisters: Leonore Crawford and Winifred Crawford. Friends may call at the funeral home, Friday, from 9:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. and Saturday, from 9:00 A.M. until service time.
