CARL U. HANSEN Carl U. Hansen, age 100, died Thursday, October 7, 2010, at Morris County Hospital in Council Grove, Kansas. e He has been cremated. In honoring his wishes, there will be no service at this time. There will be a gathering, at a later date, to scatter his ashes over the Flint Hills that he loved. The son of John and Abigail Mowson Hansen, Carl U. Hansen was born June 14, 1910, in Strong City, Kansas. He lived most of his life in the Flint Hills. He graduated from Chase County Community High School in 1928. He graduated from Kansas State University, in 1936, with a degree in mechanical engineering. He worked in industry following graduation. In the fall of 1957, he began teaching industrial engineering at KSU. He retired in 1975. He is survived by a daughter, Sara A. Hansen of Cottonwood Falls, KS. and a sister, Dolly Gaston of Emporia, KS. His parents and a brother, Robert Hansen preceded him in death.
