BETTY L. REED YODER
Strong City Dateline Betty L. Yoder, 75, died Friday, June 11, 2010, at her home in Strong City, Kansas. A celebration of life service was held Thursday, June 17, 2010, at 11:00 A.M. at the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home in Cottonwood Falls with Pastor John David Ramsey officiating. She was cremated and her ashes will be scattered at a later time. Betty Louise Reed, the daughter of Clarence and Mildred Poole Reed, was Born on January 15, 1935, in Noble Oklahoma. She graduated from Chase County High School on Friday and began working for the phone company, in Newton the following Monday. She and Marion were married February 12, 1961. She dedicated herself to married life, family and farm. She was a good wife and mother, homemaker, farmer, dairy farmer, and she raised sheep and goats. Betty worked at AT&T for 30 years, retiring in 1983. She worked at St. Luke Hospital in Marion for several years. She was active in 4-H and collected cookie cutters. She served as Worthy Matron of Falls #25, Order of the Eastern Star in Cottonwood Falls. She is survived by a son, James "Jay" of the home; two brothers: Ronald Reed of Rolla, KS. and Donald Reed of Wichita, KS.; a sister, Barbara DeGarmo of Wichita, KS.,10 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion, in 2006 and a brother, Darrell in 1993. Memorial contributions to Hand in Hand Hospice and Falls Chapter #25, Order of the Eastern Star may be sent in care of the funeral.
