Barbara Ann Kirk, 85, died December 21, 2021 at Chase County Care and Rehabilitation. She was born November 12, 1936 in Montrose, Colorado to Aaron and Gladys (Hill) Diehl. She was a caretaker. She cared for many people over the course of her life either as an occupation or simply out of love. None more important than her Son and Grandson’s. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, various crafts and attending ballgames.
She married Eldon Kirk Aug 1, 1966. They enjoyed many adventures together. They shared 35 years of marriage before his death on January 2, 2001.
Barbara graduated from Chase County Community High School in 1955. After graduation she attended college at Wichita Business School. While at school she stayed with the Vickers family and took care of their children. After graduation, she returned to Chase County to work at the Bluestem Cooperative Association Elevator in Cottonwood Falls. That is where she met her husband. After marrying, they lived on the Kirk family farm. After they were blessed with their Son, she went to work for USD 284. In 1995 Barbara and Eldon moved to Cottonwood Falls, KS. She continued to work and take care of other people for many years.
Barbara was a longtime member of the Bazaar Methodist Church and Bazaar Ladies Aide. Later became a member of the Cedar Point Community Church.
Barbara enjoyed any Harrison Ford movie and listening to Charlie Pride or seeing the Prairie Rose Wranglers. The Kansas State Fair was a must.
She very much looked forward to meeting her Lord and Savior, she prayed that all whom she loves will accept Christ so that she may see them in Heaven. She was awaiting her reunion with her heavenly Family.
Barbara is survived by: child, Thomas (Yvonne) Kirk of Strong City; Grandchildren, Cody (Becca Baker) Kirk of Cottonwood Falls, Thomas (Taylor) Kirk of Rural Emporia; Great Grandchild Sage Kirk of Cottonwood Falls.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Charles Diehl; and husband.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 27, 2021, at Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home, Cottonwood Falls. Burial will follow in Bazaar Cemetery. Friends may call 1-5 Sunday at Brown-Bennett-Alexander, family will not be present.
