ARLENE FRANCES SCOTT MATTI Arlene Matti, age 52, of Cottonwood Falls, KS., died Monday, February 13, 2012, at the Flints Hills Care Center, Inc. in Emporia. She had fought cancer for many years. A memorial celebration of life will be held Thursday, February 16, 2010, at 2:00 P.M., at the First Presbyterian Church (USA), in Cottonwood Falls. The Rev. Pat Ireland and The Rev. Hal Lewis will co-officiate at the service. She has been cremated and the family will have an inurnment at a later date. The daughter of Rollie O. and Florence McCabe Scott, Arlene Frances was born February 24, 1959, in Strong City. Her mother died shortly after her birth. She was reared by her adoptive parents, Ted and Louise Scott. She attended the Chase County schools and earned her GED while getting her Commercial Driver’s License in Fort Scott in August of 1995. She married Steven Kyle Matti on September 12, 1985, at the United Methodist Church in Cottonwood Falls. She and Steve farmed with his parents until 1994 when they started trucking together. She waited tables and cooked at the Flint Hills Truck Stop before 1994 and she was a homemaker. She was a member of the Bazaar Methodist Church and played the piano for services before she transferred her membership to the First Presbyterian Church (USA) in Cottonwood Falls . As a youngster, she was in 4-H. She was a singer in a local band, "South Fork." This band played for the opening of the Chris Ladeau concert in Emporia. She and Steve were members of the Kansas Old Time Fiddlers and Pickers and she was awarded first place in the singing division for the state of Kansas one year. She is survived by her husband, Steve, of Cottonwood Falls; her son, Micheal D. Scott of Cottonwood Falls; her daughter, Amanda Rae Matti, of Strong City; her mother, Louise Scott, of Cottonwood Falls, and a grandson, Leland Seth Matti, of Strong City. Her father, Ted Scott, preceded her in death. There will be no formal family visitation. Friends may come by the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home Wednesday, from 10:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M. to sign the register book. Memorial contributions may be given to a fund which will help pay the funeral expenses and sent to the funeral home at 201 Cherry, Cottonwood Falls, KS. 33845.
