ALFRED PINKSTON Obituary

ALFRED "CHUB" LEE PINKSTON Alfred "Chub" Pinkston, age 98, died Friday, April 22, 2011, at his home in Cedar Point, Kansas. A celebration of life service will be held Monday, April 25, 2011, at 10:00 A.M., at the Cedar Point Community Church. Rev. George Lespagnard will conduct the service. Burial will follow in the Cedar Point Cemetery near Cedar Point, Kansas. The son of Levi and Ethel Houghton Pinkston, he was born January 29, 1913, on the family farm near Cedar Point, Kansas. He graduated from Cedar Point High School and attended one year at Emporia State University. He and Lucille Imogene Carrier were married in Wichita, Kansas, on March 26, 1940. She preceded him in death on February 21, 2005. He worked on the farm and drove trucks for the Crofoots. He was a Continental Bus driver for 15 years and logged in 777,000 miles. During that time he hauled many troops to and from their destinations. In later years, he was a cattleman and did custom farming. He loved horses and continued to ride the pastures and check the cattle. He is survived by two sons: Gary L. Pinkston of Cedar Point, Kansas and Thomas L. Pinkston of Springfield, Missouri; four grandchildren: Shari Williams, T.L. Pinkston, Jr., Tiffany Pinkston Tegeler, and Crystal Pinkson; and two great grandchildren: Elizabeth Williams and Abigail Tegeler. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers: "Bud," "Cobby," "Tack," John, Ralph, and "Red" Pinkston; three sisters: Katherine Sharri, Mayme Smith, and Josie Foushee, and a great granddaughter, Sierra Pinkston. The family will meet friends Sunday, 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home. Friends may call Sunday, from 3:00 until 8:00 P.M., at the funeral home.
