IRA FRANK JOHNSON Matfield Green, Kansas Ira Frank Johnson, age 79, died Sunday, November 11, 2007, at the Golden Living Center of Chase County in Cottonwood Falls, Kansas. A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2007, at 11:00 A.M., at the Matfield Community Church in Matfield Green with Pastor Jim Bartsch, minister at the Flint Hills Community Church, officiating. Interment will follow in the Matfield Green Cemetery with military honors by a Fort Riley Honor Guard. The son of Ira Earl and Lucille Faye Richards Johnson, Ira Frank Johnson, was born February 6, 1928. in Chase County, Kansas. He and Patsy J. Archer were married July 12, 1953, in Cottonwood Falls. He was a retired U.S. Army veteran having served in the Army for over 20 years. During that time, he and Patsy lived many places in the United States. He worked for the Chase County Road and Bridge Department as a road grader and was employed as a contract mail carrier for years. He was a mechanic and could fix almost anything. He was a member of the V.F.W. He is survived by his wife, Patsy, of the home; a son, Cecil Johnson of Matfield Green, KS.; a sister, Inez Irene Buckley of Pueblo, CO.; three grandchildren: Rebecca Lea Johnson, Rachael Lynn Johnson, and David Carl Johnson; and, four great grandchildren: Lucille Edytha Johnson, Kyle James Roach, Caitlin Betty-Jane Roach, and Dustin Ty Belvin. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lucille Macom. The family will greet friends Wednesday, from 6:30 until 7:30 P.M., at the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home in Cottonwood Falls, KS. Friend may call at the funeral home Wednesday, 9:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M., and at the church Thursday, 9:00 A.M. until service time. Memorial contributions to the Matfield Community Church may be sent in care of the funeral home, 201 Cherry, Cottonwood Falls, Kansas.
