Linda L. Swartz, 57, of rural Cottonwood Falls, died suddenly Wednesday, September 24, 2008, at her home.  A celebration of life service will be held Monday, September 29, 2008, at 11:00 A.M., at the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home in Cottonwood Falls with The Rev. John Hastings officiating.  Interment will follow in the Bazaar Cemetery at Bazaar, Kansas.

The daughter of Ezra and Phyllis McFadden Minium, Jr., Linda Lou Minium was born October 27, 1950, in Lewistown, Pennsylvania.  She worked as a confidential secretary for the Pennsylvania Game Commission for 26 years before retiring in 1996.  She and Roy William “Bill” Swartz were married June 28, 1998, in Columbia, North Carolina.  They lived in Millerstown, Pennsylvania, for eight years before returning to Cottonwood Falls.  She enjoyed taking photos.

She is survived by her husband, Bill, of the home; her mother, Phyllis, and brother, Steve, both of Millerstown, PA.  She was preceded in death by her father.

The family will meet friends Sunday, 6:00 until 7:30 P.M., at the funeral home.  Friends may call Sunday, noon until 8:00 P.M. and Monday, 9:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home.

Walter “Walt” E. Green, 83, of Cottonwood Falls, formerly of Elmdale, died Friday, September 19, 2008, at the Golden Living Center of Chase County in Cottonwood Falls.  A celebration of life graveside service will be held Tuesday, September 23, 2008, at 11:00 A.M., at the Elmdale Cemetery in rural Elmdale, Kansas.

The son of Chauncey and Lylah Childs Green, Walter Edward was born April 30, 1925 in Newton, KS.  He graduated from Elmdale High School in 1944.  He and Anna Marie Starks were married on February 13, 1951 at Grace Lutheran Church in Strong City.

He worked for KDOT (State Highway) for 13 years, Elmdale Grade School/High School as a janitor for 17 years, and Camp Wood for 11 years as a maintenance man.  During these years, he also worked as a farmhand helping many people with various agricultural operations.

He served in the Kansas State Guard for four years.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting (pheasant, quail, prairie chickens, and doves).

He is survived by his wife, Anna Marie of Cottonwood Falls; one son, W. Merl Green of Cottonwood Falls, KS.; three daughters:  Anita Kroeker of Hutchinson, KS., Nancy Kirkham of Eureka, KS., and Deanna “De” Wessel of Cottonwood Falls, KS.; 13 grandchildren:  Randee Watkins, Alaina Brenner, Tracy Anderes,  Jessi Edmunds, Dani Green, Edde Dill, Angel Dill, Ben Green, Jayce Wessel, Jeremy Kroeker, Jaimie McComas, Jake Wessel, and Luke Wessel; and nine great grandchildren:  Tayden, Tannan, and Aniaya Brenner, Lathe Watkins, Raylynn Anderes, Jameson Loper, Tyler and Ashley Kroeker, and Ethan McComas.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Howard Green and a sister, Marjorie Finney.

Doyle E. Conley, age 88, formerly of Grandview Community, died Monday, September 1, 2008, at Newman Regional Health in Emporia, KS. A celebration of life service will be held Friday, September 5, 2008, at 2:00 P.M., at the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home, Cottonwood Falls, KS. Interment will follow in Matfield Green Cemetery at Matfield Green, KS.

The son of Joe and Mattie Lindenmuth Conley, Doyle Ernest Conley was born June, 15, 1920, in Beverly, KS. He and Twila King were married November 2, 1939, in Ottawa, KS. Twila preceded him in death on December 7, 2007.

He farmed most of his life in Chase County doing custom cutting throughout the four counties area (including Morris, Marion, Greenwood, and Chase). During WW II, he was employed at Cessna as an aircraft worker. He was a member of Farm Bureau. He enjoyed hunting turkey, coyotes, and deer.

He is survived by his daughter, Jolene Rhodes of Americus, KS.; seven grandchildren: Twila Engle, Donna Wilson, John Rhodes, Bruce Conley, Brad Conley, Brian Dreasher, and Kayla Delgado; and 15 great grandchildren: Heather and Courtney Engle, Chelsea and Jacob Wilson, Craig, Tyler, and Alex Conley, Brianna Biswell, Doyle and Duane Conley, Cody and Troy Conley, Marissa Dreasher, and Landon and Makenna Delgado. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Joe Conley; sister, Dorothy Leone Kirk; and a grandson, Bryan Conley.
